My first Ombre

The world of colors

Ok wait, let me be more specific here... this is my First Successful Ombre, there were two other attempts. The first failed horridly, I did everything wrong!! The second was more of a success but I knew I could Nail it better so I took off my polish and started again right away!

So yes, it's more like my Third Ombre but honestly, this is the best version I've done so far, and not only do I love it but others who have seen them in person love them too. So a bonus!

Honestly, I would love to say that I saw this video and I did my research before I attempted to make a mess of my nails the first time BUT... I didn't. I'm always the type of person to either over research some DIY or try to wing it. Here I thought it would be a simple easy process. Girl, I was wrong!
So do yourself a favor and watch this video! I will list the items you will need, and trust me when I say you WILL need them because I didn't dare attempt an ombre until I got some protection for my cuticles.

So everyone loves seeing the process on what NOT to do and what it SHOULDN'T look like, here is my official second attempt which is when I knew exactly what I was doing wrong and what I needed to change.
However now after watching the video posted above, I now know how I can perfect my ombre in the future and how to save money by cutting my wedges instead of tossing them out.

Here you can see that there is WAY too much polish on the wedge and that I didn't fully protect my cuticles.
If you take a second extra and make sure you get fully around your cuticles and the sides of your nail you will have a successful coloring. Trust me.

I've also found the Mani Mask Cuticle Protection - Latex Free bottle from Maniology is great for me for the following reasons.
  1. I am allergic to Latex
  2. It comes in my favorite color
  3. It wasn't expensive
  4. It came super fast with their shipments

Now here is the list of things you should get to start your ombre journey!

You can also have on hand some acetone, a small brush to clean up around your nails where you missed with the cuticle protector, and time.

Make sure you do listen and take the time between coats. I went from one nail to the next on both hands on my 3rd attempt and it was about 3 minutes between coats. Take your time, it's not a race.

I put down one coat of Essie - On Mute polish, got a make up wedge and painted the Lights Lacquer - Jefa on along with a line of On Mute. It did take a couple of tries but over all I was and still am happy with the end result.
